IUP Basketball home doubleheader with Edinboro to be streamed live on ESPN

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUP women's and men's basketball home doubleheader against Edinboro Wednesday, Feb. 21 has been added to the NCAA Division II Basketball Showcase, in an announcement by the NCAA this morning.
 
As part of being in the Basketball Showcase, both games will be streamed live on WatchESPN and the ESPN App. The IUP women will tipoff with Edinboro at 5:30 p.m. inside the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex, with the men's game following at approximately 7:30 p.m.

This will be the third time in the last three years that the IUP basketball programs will be featured by the NCAA on ESPN, the most of any school in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Crimson Hawks were showcased at California (Pa.) during the 2015-16 season and at Edinboro last February.

"Division II's continued collaboration with ESPN provides an exciting opportunity to share the accomplishments of our student-athletes with a broad national audience," said Terri Steeb Gronau, vice president of Division II. "We are thrilled to continue to promote the efforts of men's and women's basketball student-athletes on the court, in the classroom and in their communities."
 
IUP women one of the best in the nation
The IUP women's program is currently ranked 11th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Coaches' Poll and head into this weekend's games with a 22-2 overall record. The Crimson Hawks are also tied with Edinboro atop the PSAC Western Division with identical 17-2 conference records heading into the final week of the regular season.
 
IUP men seeking another division title
The IUP men are 19-7 overall and lead the PSAC West by two games with a 15-4 conference record. Wednesday's game with Edinboro has the potential to be a division-clinching victory for the Crimson Hawks, who currently have a "magic number" of two heading into the weekend. IUP is seeking its seventh division title in the last eight years.  
 
Streaming on ESPN
ESPN3 is ESPN's live multiscreen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and streaming devices through the ESPN App. The network currently is available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.
