Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. –
Kaitlyn Beers (Reynoldsville, Pa./DuBois Area High School) hit a walk-off single in game one and the Crimson Hawks exploded for 11 runs in a game two victory as IUP softball ended its Florida trip with a pair of victories Saturday afternoon.
IUP played two against Northwestern Ohio, winning with scores of 4-3 and 11-1.
Kassie Kesneck (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) continued her hot hitting with five hits, including a pair of doubles.
Renee Wall (Topton, PA/Brandywine Heights) also had five hits and four runs batted in with a home run in game one.
Lauren Zola (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-La Salle) picked up both wins in the circle, including a five-inning complete game victory in the nightcap. She got the win in relief in game one and combined for six strikeouts in 6.0 innings, giving up three runs and four hits.
After giving up two runs in the top of the seventh to fall behind 3-2 in the opener,
Olivia Gregorich (Sidman, Pa./Forest Hills) led off the bottom half with a single. She later moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Bryanna Lonick (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown) and came across the plate to tie things up on a Kesneck double.
Kesneck then raced around third to give the Crimson Hawks a 4-3 win on a single to right by Beers.
It was all IUP in game two, starting two a pair of runs on a double by Wall in the first inning.
The Crimson Hawks exploded for nine runs in the fifth inning to help give them the mercy win.
Alaina Montgomery (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Beers led off with singles, as the bases were later loaded with a single by
Amanda Parrish (Dysart, Pa./Altoona). With the table set, Gregorich cleaned everything up with her first career grand slam.
IUP went on to score five more, including two on a single by Beers.

The Crimson Hawks ended their trip to The Spring Games at Legends Way Ballfields with four straight wins to improve to 6-6 after two early season tournaments. They're scheduled to return to action Saturday, March 24 with a doubleheader against Edinboro. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
