WEEKEND AT A GLANCE
IUP softball opens up their 2018 schedule on the road this weekend, traveling to Salem, Virginia to compete in the Salem Tournament. The first two games are set for Friday, March 9, closing out the weekend with the final game scheduled for Saturday. After Saturday, the Crimson Hawks get ready to travel to Florida to play in The Springs Games at Legends Way Ballfields start next Monday, March 12 through Saturday, March 17.

>> IUP returns this spring with five of their top seven hitters from last year's PSAC tournament team including
Kaitlyn Beers (Reynoldsville, Pa./DuBois Area High School),
Lauren Goetz (Cleveland, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) and
Bryanna Lonick (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown); Returning on the mound are two top pitchers from last year, including
Lauren Zola (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-La Salle) who has 21 victories and a 2.75 earned run average in two seasons

Kaitlyn Beers (Reynoldsville, Pa./DuBois Area High School) was named to All-PSAC Central Team, along with being named IUP Women's Freshman of the Year last season; Beers earned all-league honors in the Central Division, finishing the season with a .308 batting average, 25 scored runs, a .496 slugging percentage and nine stolen bases
>>Other All-PSAC Central team honors went to senior
Bryanna Lonick (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown) and junior
Lauren Goetz (Cleveland, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights); Lonick hit .279 in 24 starts, in addition to throwing out five of 26 base stealers; Goetz hit .284 last season ans was tied for team-lead with 11 doubles
