No. 11 IUP men's basketball (0-0, 0-0 PSAC) opens its 2019-20 season with its annual IRMC/Hilton Garden Inn Classic November 8-9 at the Kovalchick Complex. The Crimson Hawks play West Virginia Wesleyan (0-0, 0-0 MEC) Friday night at 7 p.m. and Concord (0-0, 0-0 MEC) Saturday at 6 p.m.

TIPOFF NOTES
>> The Crimson Hawks were edged by Elon 79-71 in overtime in their exhibition contest last Wednesday in North Carolina. So. G
Armoni Foster scored a game-high 28 points, going 6-13 from 3 and 8-9 from the foul line.
>> Foster is one of five lettermen back from last year's 30-3 PSAC championship team, including the lone returning starter and league player of the year candidate Sr. G
Malik Miller.
>> IUP is a combined 8-2 in its annual season-opening tournament dating back to 2014, winning the first game in each of the five tournaments.
>> The Crimson Hawks defeated Concord 83-72 in last year's opener, getting 13 points from Miller and 10 from Foster off the bench. IUP won back-to-back games over West Virginia Wesleyan in 2013 and 2014.
>> IUP begins the season ranked No. 11 in the NABC Coaches Top 25 and No. 8 in the D2SIDA Top 25. It's the 11th straight year the Crimson Hawks begin the regular season in the top 25 rankings.
>> The Crimson Hawks are coming off the program's 10th all-time PSAC tournament championship and 16th regular season division title last season. They were also the fourth and ninth titles, respectively, in 13 years under head coach
Joe Lombardi.
>> IUP finished the year as the No. 2 ranked team in the NABC poll with a 30-3 overall record. It was the program's third 30-win season since 2009-10, the most of any team in the PSAC.
>> IUP was picked to repeat as PSAC West champs in the league's preseason coaches' poll last week. IUP received seven of the nine first place votes as the overwhelming favorite.

Joe Lombardi enters his 14th year at the helm of the Crimson Hawks and is the program's all-time leader in wins (305-100) and has nine NCAA tournament appearances, four PSAC tournament titles (2010, 2011, 2013, 2019), two Atlantic Region Championships (2010, 2015) and two Division II National Championship Game appearances (2010, 2015).
