GAMES AT A GLANCE
The IUP softball team (14-24-1, 9-6 PSAC Central) heads into the final weekend of the regular season and faces must-win games against Pitt-Johnstown (16-16, 6-8) and Bloomsburg (26-15, 11-5). The Crimson Hawks host UPJ Friday and travel to Bloomsburg Saturday. They've lost three of their last four games, including two in the division against Lock Haven and Mansfield. The Mountain Cats are 1-5 in their last six while the division-leading Huskies are 6-2 in their last eight league games.
NOTES
>> IUP fell at Mansfield 3-2 in eight innings Tuesday before getting game two halted due to lightning and poor field conditions. IUP led game two 4-0 with one out in the bottom of the fifth before the game was stopped.
>>
Renee Wall extended her on-base streak to 21 games Tuesday, the longest by an IUP player in the last eight years.
>> The Crimson Hawks enter the weekend in a tie with Mansfield for third in the PSAC Central with a 9-6 division record. Mansfield holds the tiebreaker having won all three games against IUP this season. Bloomsburg (11-5) leads the division and Lock Haven (10-6) is second. The top three teams in each of the PSAC's three divisions make the tournament.
>> IUP took both games from UPJ on the road earlier this year and split a doubleheader with Bloomsburg.
>> The Crimson Hawks are hitting .328 with a .449 slugging percentage in 14 divisional games this season. Seven times they've had 10 or more hits against a divisional opponent while six of their 12 homers have come against PSAC Central teams.
>> Wall is hitting an insane .564 against PSAC Central opponents with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .661 on-base percentage. She has six doubles, a triple, three homers and 18 RBI in 14 divisional games.
>>
Lauren Zola is IUP's top pitcher in PSAC Central games, with seven complete games and a 2.07 ERA in seven starts. He has 42 strikeouts in 47.1 innings pitched.
