CLEVELAND, Ohio –
Laura Dunarova rallied for a three-set victory to help IUP women's tennis come back to defeat Case Western Reserve 5-4 Saturday afternoon at the Cleveland Skating Club.
Dunarova clinched the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7) victory at the No. 6 singles spot. Trailing 4-6 in the tiebreaker, she scored the final five to come away with the 9-7 win.
The Crimson Hawks improved to 4-1 on the year, including 2-1 this spring.
IUP found itself down 2-1 after doubles play to the 29th-ranked Division III squad.
Mariana Valenzuela and
Joanna Stralka picked up IUP's only doubles win, defeating Nicole Cardwell and Shreya Ramani 8-3 at No. 2.
Case Western grabbed a 3-1 lead in the match with a win at No. 3 singles before the Crimson Hawks started to make their comeback. Stralka picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 with
Katya Minchenkova following with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 to tie things up.
After a Case win at No. 5 to come within one victory of clinching,
Thais Andreotti won with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 4 before Dunarova's win at No. 6.

The Crimson Hawks have a quick turnaround as they stay in Ohio with a trip to play Oberlin Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.
