LATROBE, Pa. – Head coach
Larry Peterson won his 200th career match as the 24th-ranked IUP women's tennis team defeated Seton Hill 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
Peterson is already the program's all-time winningest head coach, Peterson is in his 13th season with the Crimson Hawks. He has a winning record in 10 of his previous 12 seasons, including five 20-win campaigns, and has guided IUP to two region and two conference tournament titles.
The match marked the first action for the Crimson Hawks since February 13 after having four matches delayed due to COVID-19 concerns. IUP is now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play with today's division-opener.
The Crimson Hawks took the doubles point with identical 6-2 scores at the top two spots.
Idoia Huerta and
Lydia Vlachou won at No. 1 and
Karolin Kirchtag and
Katy Graydon won at No. 2.
IUP swept the top five singles spots, giving up its only point by forfeiting at No. 6.
Vlachou picked up the first singles point at No. 4, easily winning 6-0, 6-0. Graydon followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory of her own at No. 3 while Kirchtag was victorious 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot.
Abby Jones won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 and Huerta finished off the win with a 7-6 (5), 6-1 victory at No. 2.

It's a quick turnaround for the Hawks as they host Division III power Carnegie Mellon in their home opener Sunday afternoon.
