LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP freshman
Katy Graydon was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Athlete of the Week for women's tennis, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Graydon went a combined 4-0 over the weekend, helping the 24th-ranked Crimson Hawks to back-to-back team victories on Saturday and Sunday.
Her biggest win of the weekend came on Saturday as she took down former individual conference champion Lacey Cohen of SRU 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 singles spot. Her key win helped IUP knock off The Rock 4-3 in a battle of the Nos. 2 and 3 teams in the latest Atlantic Region rankings.
In addition to her doubles win against SRU, Graydon added two more wins Sunday night as IUP defeated NAIA Indiana University East in Ebensburg. One of those wins came at the No. 2 singles spot by a score of 6-3.
