IUP Baseball opens series with Pitt-Johnstown on Friday

INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP baseball program heads into its sixth weekend of competition with a four-game set against division foe Pitt-Johnstown. The Crimson Hawks head to Johnstown to open the series Friday and will host the Mountain Cats Saturday. Both doubleheaders will start at 1 p.m.

The Crimson Hawks are 1-15 overall, 0-8 in the PSAC West. Pitt-Johnstown is 9-7 and tied for second in the division with a 5-3 record. 
 
Spectator Policies
IUP Athletics is allowing spectators at outdoor events this spring. Any fans visiting Owen J. Dougherty Field are asked to keep socially distant from each other, participating teams, student-athletes, school officials and other game day personnel. When not able to socially distant, please wear masks.

Pitt-Johnstown allows up to 400 visitors at Point Stadium. Masks must be worn and all times and social distancing is required. Click here to read the full policy

>> IUP had a Tuesday doubleheader against Mount Aloysius postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Mounties program. It was to be IUP's first out-of-conference opponent since March 13. 
>> Junior Austin Vigliotti hit his first career home run during the fourth game of the Cal U series. 
>> Sophomore Harrison Pontoli started a new hit streak over the weekend, batting safely in all four games. He started the year with an 11-game streak, seeing it end after being forced to leave the fourth game of the Seton Hill series due to health and safety guidelines. 
>> Pontoli leads the Crimson Hawks with a .356 batting average and 21 base hits this season. 
>> 5th year outfielder Chris Eisel hit his second homer of the season last weekend. Three of his 10 hits this year have gone for extra bases and he's a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts.
>> Senior Nick Hess is batting .316 and leads the team with five doubles and a .456 slugging percentage.
