INDIANA, Pa. - The IUP women's tennis team will be back in action this Saturday as they head to their first tournament of the fall at the ITA Regional Championship in Millersville. After reaching the elite eight at the 2021 NCAA Division II Championship the Crimson Hawks are looking forward to continuing their success during their fall season.
The Hawks have experience under their belt this season with seven returners and incoming graduate transfer Natasha Munday taking part in the three-day tournament. The format consists of two 64-singles draws and a pair of 32-doubles draws. The Hawks will compete against players from 13 schools including: Slippery Rock, Charleston, Mercyhurst, West Liberty, Millersville, West Chester, Edinboro, Bloomsburg, WV Wesleyan, Fairmont St., Davis & Elkins, Frostburg St., and Bluefield St.

>> Returners: Idoia Huerta (Sr.), Karolin Kirchtag (Sr.), Laura Dunarova (Sr.), Joanna Stralka (Jr.), Lydia Vlachou (Soph.), Katy Graydon (Soph.), Abby Jones (Soph.) all of which were members of the PSAC Championship winning team.
>> Adding to the group is graduate transfer Natasha Munday. The New Mexico transfer was an All-MWC selection in doubles and has an overall record of 40-36 singles and 59-36 in doubles.
>> Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be the first time IUP will compete in an individual tournament since October 12, 2019.
>> The Hawks had three All-PSAC singles selections for the 2021 season that included: Kirchtag (first team) going 7-5 at No.1, Graydon (first team) going 13-2 at No.3 and Huerta (second team) going 9-7 at No. 2. Two IUP doubles pairings also earned first team All-PSAC West honors – Huerta/Vlachou going 13-2 and Kirchtag/Graydon going 12-1.
>> In 2019 Stralka went 13-1 in individual fall season tournament play.
