GROVE CITY, Pa. – The IUP men's golf team concluded opening round action at the Hal Hansen Invitational, sitting in sixth place on the team leaderboard at Grove City Country Club.
With a team score of 306, the Crimson Hawks are just six shots off the lead held by Grove City. IUP is just two shots back of West Chester and California (Pa.), which share fourth place following the opening round.
Shaun Fedor carded a two-over 74 in the opening round as the leader of the IUP lineup, finishing in a four-way tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard.
Alex Swinnerton finished among the top-10 in the first round with a 73, posting four birdies and finishing one-under on the front nine.
Jackson Buccigross notched a 77 and is tied for 23rd, battling back from a stretch of bogeys on the front nine with an eagle on the par-five seventh hole.
Cameron Gerue, competing as an individual, is also tied for 23rd with a 75.
Guillermo Salazar and
John Olsen rounded out the IUP lineup with scores of 80 and 81, respectively.
The event, hosted by Clarion, marks the final tune up for IUP prior to the PSAC Championship on October 14-16.
