ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – The Crimson Hawk men's golf team entered the final day of the Wheeling Invitational in fifth place, shooting ten over par in day one. IUP battled back to climb three spots in day two, shooting just one over par for an overall 11 over par showing, and a second-place finish.
IUP had two golfers finish in the top ten, with
Alex Swinnerton shooting even par, finishing in fourth, and
Ben De Castro moving up 21 spots in day two, finishing in tenth place while shooting a two over par.
De Castro wasn't the biggest mover of the team, however, as
John Olsen moved up 24 spots during his second round, finishing the event in the top 20.
Cal (PA) won the event, shooting a six over par in day two after shooting even par in day one. The Crimson Hawks will return to action on Monday when they travel to Canton to compete in the Malone Invitational.
