JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — IUP men's golf climbed four spots Saturday to finish eighth at the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional at Sunnehanna Country Club.
The Crimson Hawks posted a final-round team score of 291, one stroke higher than Friday's round, to finish the tournament with an 883 total. Only five teams shot a lower score than IUP during the final round.
Senior Alex Swinnerton entered the day seventh on the individual leaderboard but finished tied for 25th overall after shooting 6-over par in the final round.
Fellow senior Guillermo Salazar also tied for 25th after carding a 3-over-par round Saturday.
John Olsen and Trevor Todd made major moves up the leaderboard in the final round. Olsen climbed 22 spots after shooting 1-over par and finished inside the top 50 with a 13-over-par total score.
Todd also shot 1-over par Saturday, climbing 24 spots to finish 51st overall at 14 over par for the tournament.
For the team title, Gannon and Charleston finished tied at 861 after three rounds before Gannon claimed the regional championship on the first playoff hole.
Charleston's Pau Sanchez captured the individual title in a playoff against Gannon's Rasmus Seppnen. The championship was decided by strokes on the playoff hole.
