Davidson, van Herel named All-PSAC selections

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The IUP field hockey program had a pair of first year student-athletes named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) all-conference teams, the league announced Thursday.

Jess Davidson was named to the All-PSAC Second Team as a forward, while Roos van Herel landed on the All-PSAC Third Team.

The duo helped IUP to a 9-8 mark in 2022, just missing out on the conference tournament in a league with multiple top-five ranked teams nationally. The Crimson Hawks spent most of the season ranked inside the top 10 nationally, rising as high as number six in the NFHCA Poll.

Davidson logged 13 goals and three assists in an impressive debut season for the Crimson Hawks. She posted three game-winning markers and scored multiple goals in three contests. Her 27 points are the highest single-season total for IUP since 2012.

Another standout first-year contributor, van Herel added three goals and one assist for the Crimson Hawks as a defender in 2022. With a strong defensive presence, van Herel helped the Crimson Hawks to five shutout victories on the season.

Valerie Van Kuijck and Dara Spavlik of West Chetser, Agus Garibaldi of Shippensburg and Marci Scheuing of Kuztown headlined the 2022 PSAC all-conference teams as major award winners.
