Crimson Hawks move up one spot in both national polls

INDIANA, Pa. - The IUP men's basketball team moved up one spot in both major national polls this week, sliding up to No. 7 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top 25 and No. 4 in the D2SIDA Media Top 25 released on Tuesday afternoon.

The rankings were based on games played through Sunday and do not reflect IUP's win over Slippery Rock on Monday night.

The Crimson Hawks went 2-0 last week with wins over Gannon and Slippery Rock, then defeated The Rock again Monday at home to improve to 20-2 overall and 14-2 in the PSAC. That conference record is good for first in the division.

Nova Southeastern (20-0) took over the top spot in both polls this week, moving up one spot. They received all 16 first place votes in the NABC poll and 14 of the 16 in the media top 25. Northwest Missouri State (21-2) is No. 2 in both polls while Lubbock Christian (20-1) fell back to No. 3 in both rankings.

D2SIDA regional rankings
IUP remained at No. 1 in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings for the fourth straight week, and 10th time this season, earing five of the six first place votes. West Liberty (20-2) received the other first place vote and is second with Fairmont State (18-3) at three, Pitt-Johnstown (17-4) at four, and Mercyhurst (19-5) at five.
