Foster and Porterfield named D2CCA all-region

INDIANA, Pa. - The IUP men's basketball duo of junior guard Armoni Foster and sophomore forward Ethan Porterfield were named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region Team.

Foster was a first team selection while Porterfield landed on the second team. The two have helped lead the Crimson Hawks to a 31-2 record, PSAC West regular season and conference tournament championships, national regular season rankings of Nos. 2 (media) and 3 (coaches), and to tonight's (Tuesday) NCAA Atlantic Region Championship game.

Foster was the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Athlete of the Year. A threat to take over a game in any facet, he averages 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 6.7 assists to go along with 51 steals and 18 blocks in 33 games. Battling through injuries all year long, he has 14 20-point games, three games of 30-plus points, five double-doubles, and is one of three Division II players with multiple triple-doubles this season.

On Saturday he broke the IUP single season assist record and heads into tonight with 222. His 604 points this season are ninth in program history.

Foster is a two-time all-region selection, also earning D2CCA all-region and NABC all-district honors after the 2019-20 season.

Porterfield earned his first all-region honor after a standout sophomore season. Arguably the top inside-outside post player in the conference, he averages 17.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, is shooting 56.2 percent from the field and 49.0 percent from three with 77 treys, and has 46 blocks and 34 steals. Also a first team All-PSAC West selection, Porterfield has reached double-figures in scoring 29 times in 33 games with 11 20-point games, has six double-doubles, and at one point in February was the NCAA all-divisions leader in 3-point field goal percentage.
