Hawks host Lock Haven, play Clarion in DuBois this weekend

UPDATE: Friday's games against Lock Haven have been postponed. A makeup date has not yet been announced.
 

INDIANA, Pa. – After a weekend off from multiple postponements, the IUP softball team returns to play a two-game series against Lock Haven on Friday. The Crimson Hawks host a doubleheader Friday at Podbielski Field with a first pitch time of 2:30 p.m. IUP will then head to DuBois on Sunday to play Clarion in a doubleheader originally scheduled to be played at CU on Saturday. First pitch Sunday is noon. 

The Hawks are 7-9 through their non-conference slate and will open PSAC West divisional play with their doubleheader against Clarion. Recent non-divisional matchups against Bloomsburg and Millersville have been postponed due to weather as IUP will see its first action in more than a week. 

Lock Haven is 8-7 so far this year and Clarion is 1-18. 

Last Time Out
>> The Crimson Hawks split a double-header against Piit-Johnstown on March 22. IUP took the first game with a 9-0 shutout, the Mountain Cats countered with a shutout of their own winning 4-0.
>> Sophmore Amanda Fischer tossed a complete 5 inning shutout in the nightcap, scattering three hits while striking out two.
>> Senior Jenna Rhue homered in the bottom of the 1st, driving in 2 runs in the first game. 
 
Series notes
>> Lock Haven leads the all time series 72-55
>> These teams last played in 2019 where IUP split a doubleheader losing the first game 2-1 then winning the second 8-5.

Matchup notes
>> The Bald Eagles are 9th in the PSAC with a .292 batting average and 7th with a .446 slugging percentage.
>> Lock Havens team ERA of 3.29 is also 9th in the PSAC. The Crimson Hawks are 16th at 4.86. 
>> Lock Haven features Delaney Good, who is ranked 5th in the PSAC with a .455 batting average logging 25 hits in 55 at bats.
>> The Bald Eagles also have Kinley Gioglio, who is ranked 5th in the PSAC with an ERA of 1.33 in 31.2 innings of work. 

Rhue having career season
>> Jenna Rhue leads the Crimson Hawks in average (.412), runs scored (14), hits (21), homers (8), RBI (19), slugging (.961), and total bases (49). 
>> She has five multi-hit games, including three games with 3+ hits. 
>> She was a All-PSAC Central selection as catcher her freshman year (2019). Last season she suffered through mid-season injury, only playing in 20 games with 19 starts last season. 

Finding a place in the circle
>> Amanda Fischer leads IUP's pitching in ERA (3.89), strike outs (18), and opponent batting average (.255).
>> After only 3 starts her freshman year Fischer leads the Crimson Hawks with a 5-3 record in her 7 starts.
>> She is batting .286 and has a stolen base.
