INDIANA, Pa. - IUP junior second baseman Harrison Pontoli was named to the NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Team on Thursday afternoon, earning honorable mention honors. 

Pontoli becomes the first IUP player to earn all-region recognition since Ted DeSanti in 2018. 

Pontoli is one of three second basemen on the team, including the only one from the PSAC West, joining Millersville's Jimmy Losh (first team) and West Virginia State's Andrew Stone (second team). Pontoli was a second team All-PSAC West selection last week.

Pontoli was a main offensive cog on a Crimson Hawks team that finished with a 27-22 overall record and just missed out on a postseason berth, tying for fourth in the division with a 16-12 league record. Usually hitting from the leadoff or No. 2 spot in the order while starting 46 games, Pontoli led the Hawks with six home runs, 42 RBI, 45 runs scored, four triples, and 14 stolen bases. He also posted team-highs with 17 multi-hit and 12 multi-RBI games, and his 8.94 strikeout ratio was the best among regular players. 

In addition to those numbers, Pontoli also finished second on the team with a .349 batting average, 1.068 OPS, 152 at-bats, 53 hits, and 16 doubles. 

Over the last 17 games of the season, Pontoli hit a staggering .471 with a .774 slugging percentage. In 53 at-bats he totaled 25 hits including six doubles, two triples, and a home run, had 13 RBI and scored 22 runs. 

For his career, Pontoli has played in 91 games with 90 starts since the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He's hitting .317 with a .492 slugging percentage, totaling 72 runs scored, 96 hits, 23 doubles, six triples, six homers and 56 RBI.
