VICTOR, N.Y. - The IUP men's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the 2022 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Region Championships at Ravenwood Golf Club.
The Crimson Hawks shot a 38-over 902 in the three-round tournament, finishing 15 strokes back of the cut as the top four teams on the leader board advanced to the NCAA Division II Championship.
St. Thomas Aquinas won the regional title by shooting a 17-over 881. Charleston was second with a 19-over 883, while Gannon and Davis & Elkins tied for third with a 23-over 887.
Jack Buccigross was IUP's top finisher, tying for eighth individually with a 4-over 220. He finished seven strokes back of medalist Jordan Hyland from Davis & Elkins, who shot a 3-under 213. Buccigross finished his tournament by shooting a 2-over 74 in the third round after shooting a 76 and 70 over the first two days.
Richie Kline tied for 13th with a 5-over 221. He shot a 3-over 75 on Saturday after shooting a 71 and 75.
Shaun Fedor tied for 54th with a 12-over 228,
Nicholas Ward tied for 83rd with a 19-over 235, and
Colin Walsh tied for 100th with a 24-over 240.
Missing the cut ends the 2021-22 season for the Crimson Hawks, who won the program's 31st PSAC Championship in the fall and won two of four tournaments this spring.
