LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP cross country's
Joel Beckwith earned All-Region honors, completing the 2023 season on Saturday at Lock Haven's West Branch XC Course.
IUP finished fifth on the men's side, matching the team's best finish since 2018. Overall, IUP placed three runners among the top 30 overall.
Joel Beckwith paced the IUP men's lineup with a 23rd-place finish in 31:22.3 in the 10K race, earning all-region accolades.
Dan Gibney just missed out on all-region laurels with a 26th-place finish with a 31:26.8 time.
Mike Formica followed just behind for the Hawks in 28th overall with a 31:26.9.
Ethan Ribelin (32:32.8) and
Marco Cardone (32:38.4) closed out the scoring lineup for IUP, while
Tom Brady (33:34.6) and
Evan Weaver (34:05.0) rounded out the lineup for the Hawks.
Taking a relatively inexperienced lineup to the regional race, the IUP women finished 22nd in the team standings.
Stella Kuntz finished atop the IUP runners in 95th overall (23:41.0) with
Lexi Lovrich following in 103rd behind a 23:54.7.
Abby Douglas, dealing with illness over the last few weeks, gutted out a 24:12.4 and 118th overall.
Julia O'Brien was fourth among the IUP finishers in 24:28.2 (131st), with
Hannah Weaver (25:19.0; 147th),
Katie McCormick (25:25.21) and
Emily Schrag (25:38.4; 153rd) closing out the lineup.
