TIPOFF NEWS AND NOTES
- IUP has reeled off three consecutive wins entering the weekend, getting over .500 for the first time in 2023-24.
- Ethan Porterfield was named the PSAC West Co-Athlete of the Week, posting impressive averages of 19.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the Hawks over the last four outings combined. He ranks eighth in the league in scoring average (18.3), sixth in rebounding average (8.0), sixth in defensive rebounding average (6.0) and sixth in blocks/game (1.00).
- Porterfield continues closing in on 1,500 career points, entering the weekend 35 points shy of the milestone. Only 13 players in program history have scored 1,500 or more points at IUP.
- Point Park brings a familiar coaching figure back to the KCAC in Kevin Reynolds, the head coach for Slippery Rock for 10 seasons (2008-18). Reynolds has orchestrated a big-time turnaround for the undefeated Point Park men's basketball program in just two seasons, boasting over 200 career victories.
- The Hawks got it done in different ways during its two crossover victories, racing past Shippensburg for a 96-84 win before clamping down into the second half of a 68-63 win against Lock Haven.
- IUP has crashed the glass of late, entering the weekend 10th in NCAA DII in offensive rebounds/game (15.14). Overall IUP is 15th in the country in rebounding (42.29) and boast a +45-rebounding margin during the team's three-game winning streak.
- Dallis Dillard continues to excel as one of the top defending guards in the nation, adding an uptick on the offensive end of the floor in 2023-24. The team's leader in total minutes, he ranks second on the team in scoring (16.3) on 43.2% shooting, second in rebounding (6.4), second in assists (21), tied for first in steals (8) and first in blocks (7).

- Damir Brooks has started the last two games for IUP on the road last weekend, posting 10.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in that span for the Hawks. Perhaps the most athletic player on the team, Brooks matched his career-high 13 points at Shippensburg on December 1.
- Jaylen Stewart has also started into the starting lineup at a guard position with Sarp Furtun, Jordan Lambert and Josh Petteno providing minutes off the bench.
- Callum MacNamara and KJ Rhodes have provided IUP with some depth in the frontcourt, complimenting Porterfield and Brooks.
