LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- IUP men's basketball sophomore
Tomiwa Sulaiman continued his sensational season this past week, earning Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Defensive Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Sulaiman claimed his sixth weekly conference award this season, earning five Defensive Player of the Week honors and one PSAC West Athlete of the Week award in 2022-23
The sophomore forward averaged a double-double in another stellar defensive week for the fourth-ranked IUP men's basketball team. He recorded 15.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and tallied a combined six blocks and five steals in two victories.
Sulaiman racked up 16 points, six rebounds, two assists, three blocks and two steals against Edinboro. He followed it up with a double-double against rival Slippery Rock, posting 14 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and three steals.
IUP enters the final week of the regular season as the top seed in the PSAC West for the upcoming conference tournament. The Hawks close out the regular season slate at California (Pa.) with a 3:00 p.m. tipoff on Saturday, February 25.
Upon the conclusion of the regular season, IUP will host the PSAC Quarterfinals against an opponent to be determined on Wednesday, March 1 at the KCAC.
