INDIANA, Pa. -- IUP and the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex will host the 2023 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Atlantic Region Championship March 11-12 and 14. IUP earned the right to host the regional tournament as the top seed with a 30-1 overall record after winning the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship.
This marks the fourth in the last five years IUP has earned the top seed and hosting rights in the Atlantic Region.
IUP is one of four teams from the PSAC to earn selection, capturing the program's fourth straight conference championship on Sunday at Shippensburg. Other PSAC teams competing are No. 3 seed Mercyhurst, No. 6 seed East Stroudsburg and No. 7 seed Pitt-Johnstown. West Liberty won the Mountain East Conference (MEC) tournament and is the No. 2 seed, joined by No. 5 seed Fairmont State. Winston-Salem is the No. 8 seed as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) tournament champion, while No. 4 seed Virginia Union is also a representative from the CIAA.
