CANTON, Ohio – Competing in a talented field of teams and individuals, the IUP men's golf program improved their positioning by two spots, finishing ninth overall at the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational on Tuesday.
Finishing the final 18 holes of the 54-hole event held at the par-72 Glenmoor Country Club, the IUP Crimson Hawks finished with an overall score of 911 in ninth, just one ahead of fellow PSAC school Pitt-Johnstown (912).
Hillsdale won the event as a team with a three-round score of 885, followed by Tiffin (887) and Ferris State (888). Ferris State's Caleb Bond cruised to medalist honors with a 12-under mark of 204, which included a four-under 68 in the final round.
Ashland's Andrew Kolar also turned in a score under par at 215, benefiting from his first round 68.
For IUP,
Shaun Fedor recorded the best round of Tuesday's play with an even-par 72. He finished tied for 34th overall with a score of 229.
Sophomore
Alex Swinnerton was the top finisher among the IUP lineup in 19th with an overall mark of 223. Sophomore
Guillermo Salazar followed in a tie for 25th with a 226, carding consecutive rounds of 74 (+2).
Sophomore
Cameron Gerue closed out the 54-hole tournament in a tie for 51st (236), while freshman
Jon Vinge was 68th as an individual with a 242.
