LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Following a tremendous season-opening tournament this week, IUP men's golf sophomore
Alex Swinnerton was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Co-Athlete of the Week, announced by the league on Thursday.
It marks the fourth career PSAC Athlete of the Week award for Swinnerton, named the league's Freshman of the Year in 2022-23. The Saskatchewan, Canada native took first at the Glade Springs Kickoff, hosted by Charleston (W.Va.) on September 5-6.
Swinnerton was named Co-Athlete of the Week along with Gannon's Ryan Ferry.
After identical rounds of four-under 68 on Tuesday, Swinnerton captured medalist honors with a 75 on Wednesday and a 211 overall. It's the second collegiate win for Swinnerton, who took medalist honors at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invite last April.
As a team, IUP finished second overall, one shot behind Glenville State.
