Crimson Hawks make final push at Sunnehanna Collegiate

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – IUP men's golf made a push during Tuesday's final round of the 2025 Sunnehanna Collegiate, ultimately finishing in a tie for third overall. The Crimson Hawks elevated up to second place for a time on Tuesday, before finishing in a tie for third place with a 54-hole mark of 862.

Among the most consistent team for most of the invitational, IUP hit a rough patch down the stretch. Gannon held on for medalist honors, winning by five shots despite an uncharacteristic 298 in Tuesday's final round.

Glenville State's Hector Arriaga rode a stellar second round to medalist honors, finishing at a combined five-under par (205) across 54 holes. Three players in the field carded scores under par at Sunnehanna Country Club.

Action consisted of 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.

Alex Swinnerton again paced the IUP lineup, finishing in 12th behind rounds of 69 (-1), 71 and 73. He matched Pau Sanchez (Charleston) for the best scoring average in the field on par three holes.

Swinnerton has played 106 total rounds during his IUP tenure, and his 73.27 career average is on pace for the lowest in program history since the record was kept in 2007.

Ben De Castro bookended his week with one-over scores of 71, posting a combined mark of 216 while tying for 25th place. He steadily dropped in a combined 39 pars across the 54-hole tournament.

Guillermo Salazar and Zaiden Dennis (individual) posted identical marks of 217 (+7).

Trevor Todd dropped to 47th following a tough-luck final round. John Olsen closed out the IUP lineup in 63rd.

IUP ranked second in the field with 177 pars. The Hawks added two eagles in round two – coming courtesy of Salazar and Todd each on the par-five 11th hole.
