KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The IUP men's program finished third in team standings and landed four runners on the all-conference teams following the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Saturday at Kutztown.
IUP placed third on the men's side behind Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg. The women's team posted 10th in the team standings on Saturday.
IUP had four runners earn all-conference recognition in the men's race, two on the first team and two on the second team. Senior
Dan Gibney finished second overall (25:36.5) earning All-PSAC First Team recognition. Junior
Mike Formica was also an All-PSAC First Team selection with his seventh place finish (25:47.5).
Both junior
Joel Beckwith and freshman
Nate Kociela earned All-PSAC Second Team honors, with finishes of 20th (26:19.4) and 30th (26:43.6). Rounding out the scoring lineup for the Hawks was
Tom Brady in 49th (27:11.7),
Marco Cardone in 51st (27:14.3), and
Dominick Ditoro in 57
th (27:25.6) in the top seven.
In the women's race, junior
Julia O'Brien finished first for the Hawks for the second year in a row, at 37th (23:49.4) in the 6K race. Sophomore
Abby Douglas placed 47th (24:13.9) and junior
Katie McCormick placed 57th(24:23.5) to round out the top three for the Hawks.
To close out the scoring, was
Zaya McCune in 71st (24:40.6),
Lexi Lovrich in 91st (25:19.3),
Kalynne Ziegler in 96th (25:24.4), and
Hannah Weaver in 99th (25:30.1)
The women's team finished behind Lock Haven and ahead of Gannon in the team standings.
