INDIANA, Pa. – Three IUP players earned spots on the United Soccer Coaches Division II Women's All-Atlantic Region Teams. Fifth-year
Hannah Scardina received First Team honors, while fifth-year
Katharina Bilz and sophomore
Emma Hays were named to the Third Team, announced Tuesday.
Scardina added to her impressive list of accolades this season, including D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team honors, All-PSAC First Team selection, and PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Year recognition. She ranked fifth in the PSAC with 11 goals, led the conference with five game-winning goals, and started all but one game this season
Hays was awarded All-PSAC West First Team honors after receiving Second Team honors her freshman year. This marked Akron transfer Bilz's, first award this postseason.
Hays and Bilz both started all 18 games this season and anchored the defense that allowed just 0.67 goals per game, that ranked second in the PSAC behind Gannon. They contributed to 10 shutouts, which included four ties, and limited opponents to 12 goals all season. Hays added three assists while Bilz recorded one.
The trio's performances helped IUP reach the NCAA DII Women's Soccer Atlantic Region Tournament for the first time in 15 years and the PSAC Tournament for the first time since 2019. The Hawks finished the 2024 season with an 11-3-4 overall record and 9-1-4 in the PSAC.
