IUP posts outstanding day three at 2024 PSAC Swimming Championships

CARLISLE, Pa. – The IUP men's and women's swimming programs had a banner day three at the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships on Friday at the Keystone Aquatics Center. Overall, the Crimson Hawks won four events (all-conference), posted three NCAA B Standards and added a pair of school/meet records during the finals session.
 
In the team standings, the IUP women's squad elevated from fourth on Thursday to second place overall on Friday (683.5). Meanwhile, the IUP men held serve in fifth place overall with 276.5 points.
 
Luke Mikesell claimed his third career victory in the 500 free at the PSAC Championships. He set a new meet and school record, dropping over eight seconds from the prelims and posting an NCAA B Standard with a mark of 4:24.65.
 
Kasha Stokes set a new meet and school record of her own, winning the 100 back with an all-conference NCAA B Standard time of 55.65. Tina Cudina just missed out on a top-three finish in the 100 breast, posting fourth overall (1:04.05) just ahead of teammate Erin Moyer in fifth (1:04.78).
 
Athanasios Diamantidis posted an NCAA B Standard while winning the 100 breast with a school record of 54.18.
 
The women's 200 medley relay group of Jordan Crupie, Cudina, Amber Baldani and Taylor Peoples opened up the meet with first place in the 200 medley relay for all-conference honors in 1:44.87. The group featured three first-year swimmers, and earned the conference title after West Chester was disqualified in the race.
 
Crupie and Baldani each notched a podium finish in the 100 back as IUP claimed three of the top eight spots, touching the wall in 57.87 and 59.77. Lilly Farmer, Parker Fanella and Katie Crosscut also scored in the event, showcasing great depth on the women's squad.
 
The men's 200 medley relay group of Alexander Roth, Diamantidis, Andrew Taylor and Stephen Goff were fourth in 1:32.13. Avital Flaishman logged a podium finish in the 500 free (5:05.10), while Olivia Santee won the C-Final of the race in 5:13.00.
 
Roth had a podium finish for the IUP men in the 100 back (50.91), while Blake Hendricks scored in the B-Final with a time of 52.13. Tyler Uhlig paced the B-Final heat of the 500 free in 4:36.87, while Luke Scoboria finished 11th overall (4:40.39), dropping nearly four seconds from his time in the prelims.

IUP finishes out the final day of the 2024 PSAC Swimming Championships tomorrow (Feb. 17) with the prelims at 10:00 a.m. and the finals at 5:00 p.m.
 
Saturday's final day features the 100 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 1650 Free and 400 Free Relay.
