LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP men's basketball forward
Ethan Porterfield was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week, announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Porterfield warns his third weekly honor for the Crimson Hawks this season and second Athlete of the Week award in 2023-24. The Sharon, Pa. native is on a stellar run of production over the last few games, averaging 34.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, one steal and one block in a pair of divisional wins last week.
Porterfield played just over 35 minutes/game and shot 72.7% from the floor in that stretch. He moved to 111-16 in his collegiate career after guiding the Crimson Hawks to victories against Pitt-Johnstown and Edinboro.
Porterfield moved to second in program history in career scoring in last Wednesday's victory against UPJ. In the last four games, Porterfield is averaging 30.3 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 39.2 MPG and a 59.2 FG%.
He posted 33 points and four rebounds, shooting 12-15 from the floor in 32 minutes against UPJ. From there, he added another career high with 35 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a road victory at Edinboro on February 17.
He enters the week ranked fifth in the league in scoring average (18.9), second in rebounding (9.0 RPG) and second in double-doubles (12).
