GENEVA, Ohio -- IUP freshman diver
Jeremiah Laslavic had his fair share of highlights on Tuesday at the 2024 NCAA DII Diving prequlification meet, just missing out on a spot in both the one meter and three meter dives at the SPIRE Institute.
Laslavic placed in 23rd in the one meter dive out of 32 competitors. In the three meter dive 19th overall out of 31 competitors.
"Overall, I'm extremely proud of Jeremiah," IUP head diving coach Jakob Merkel said. "As a first-year competitor without any three meter experience before the season, he did exceptionally well, holding his own."
Laslavic was around sixth place through four dives. He just missed out on the qualifying cut by a few points, showing well in his first taste of nationals action at the collegiate level.
"After around nine hours of diving, Jeremiah's last two dives were good against an elite level of fierce competition," Merkel added.
IUP continues the 2024 NCAA DII Championships with three swimmers hitting the pool this week. Action resumes Thursday, March 14 with
Luke Mikesell in the 200 free.
