INDIANA, Pa. -- IUP men's basketball senior forward
Ethan Porterfield was named 2023-24 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region Second Team, announced Friday.
KJ McClurg (California (Pa.)) was named the 2023-24 D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year, joined on the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region First Team by Winston-Salem State's Jaylen Alston, Charleston's Eddie Colbert III, Gannon's Josh Omojafo and Lock Haven's Justice Shoats. First team selections advance to the D2CCA All-America ballot
The All-Atlantic Region Second Team includes Millersville's Matt Dade, Wheeling's Marcus Johnson, East Stroudsburg's Lakeem McAliley, West Virginia State's Anthony Pittman and IUP's
Ethan Porterfield.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II Atlantic Region schools and conferences selected the two all-region teams. The Atlantic Region consists of schools from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Mountain East Conference (MEC), and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), along with independents Bluefield State and Salem.
The 2023-24 D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Men's Basketball Teams feature six players from the PSAC, three players from the MEC, and one player from the CIAA.
Porterfield earns the all-region non in addition to All-PSAC West First Team honors in 2023-24. A two-time conference tournament MVP, Porterfield concluded a legendary career against Gannon in the 2024 PSAC Quarterfinals and cemented himself among the top student-athletes at IUP in any sport.
The Sharon, Pa. native wraps up his career with 112 victories since 2018-19. He's won three conference titles and was part of an Atlantic Region championship and appearance in the NCAA DII Final Four in 2021-22. He was named to the Bevo Francis Top 100 and Top 50 Watch Lists, along with a spot on the Trevor Hudgins Top 15 Watch List (top four-year career).
Individually, Porterfield finishes second in program history in scoring (1,934), first in field goals made (723), fifth in three-point field goals (236), third in rebounding (885), second in blocks (165) and tied for third in career games (130).
This season, Porterfield finished third in the PSAC in points/game (20.0), third in rebounding (8.6), third in three-point field goals (76) and second in double-doubles (11). In his final game at No. 3/3 Gannon, Porterfield was sensational in the PSAC Quarterfinals with 34 points (12-20 FG), 10 rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 40 minutes.
