BEDFORD, Pa. – The IUP men's golf team has three individuals among the top 10 overall, slotting second in the team standings after Monday's opening round of the Pitt-Johnstown Bedford Springs Invitational.
IUP shot a 304 (+16) team score on Monday, trailing host Pitt-Johnstown (297) by seven shots. Individually,
Alex Swinnerton and
Cameron Gerue are tied for fourth after a three-over 75.
Swinnerton played the front nine at -1 with birdies on the par five third and ninth holes. Gerue carded a pair of birdies in his opening round, playing the back nine at +1 on Monday.
Shaun Fedor posted an opening round 76 (+4) that included a pair of birdies.
Aidan LeBlanc, the reigning PSAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, sits just outside the top 10 individually behind an opening round 78.
Guillermo Salazar had an up and down round of 79 that included two birdies and two double bogeys, along with eight pars.
Jon Vinge, competing as an individual, played the front nine at even par before finishing with a 79.
John Olsen closed out the IUP lineup with an 89, competing as an individual.
