BEDFORD, Pa. – On a day full of ups and downs, the IUP men's golf team slotted second in the inaugural Bedford Springs Invitational, hosted by Pitt-Johnstown on Tuesday.
IUP battled back to take the lead in the team standings for a short time before host Pitt-Johnstown ultimately held on for a three-shot victory. The Hawks posted a two-round mark of 609 after a second round 305. UPJ finished the tournament as the team champions with a two-round total of 606 on a tricky course.
IUP had four golfers among the top 10 individually and three inside the top five.
Shaun Fedor led the way for IUP in third place. Carding a two-over 74, Fedor collects his fourth top-five finish of the 2023-24 season.
Fedor posted three birdies in the second round on Tuesday, finishing the invitational at +6 overall.
Alex Swinnerton and
Guillermo Salazar each finished tied for fifth after Tuesday rounds of 78 and 74, respectively.
Salazar posted three birdies on Tuesday, notching back-to-back birdies at three and four.
Cameron Gerue shot a 79 on Tuesday, notching his second consecutive top-10 finish in a tie for 10th overall (154).
Jon Vinge recorded the top finish of his collegiate career in a tie for 11th, competing as an individual.
Aidan LeBlanc was just outside the top 15 individuals, posting 16th following a second-round mark of 81.
John Olsen made solid improvement in round two with a 78.
