GOLDSBORO, N.C. – The IUP men's golf team showed continual improvement throughout The Trojan, hosted by Mount Olive. Finishing fifth in the team standings, IUP climbed two spots over the final 18 holes, shooting the second-best round of the day.
 
IUP's collective third round total of 294 (+6) trailed only eventual team champions Barton (288). Barton (845) ran away with the individual and team medalist honors, winning the tournament by 30 shots of host Mount Olive. Individually, Barton's Ryan Jahr went a combined -14 over 54 holes in a stellar tournament.
 
IUP showcased great consistency throughout the lineup once again in an event against some strong regional and national competition. Cameron Gerue recorded the first top-10 finish of his collegiate career with a combined tally of 220. Carding a one-over 73 in the final round on Tuesday, Gerue played the final 13 holes of his round at three under.
 
He shook off a bogey and double bogey to begin the morning, settling in for another outstanding round.
 
Notching a one-under 71 on Tuesday, Guillermo Salazar shot 16 spots up the individual leaderboard. Finishing tied for 17th with a 54-hole mark of 223, Salazar dazzled with three straight birdies going into the back nine.
 
Shaun Fedor was tied for 26th overall with a 76 on Tuesday (226). Alex Swinnerton posted his lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 74 (+2), good for 31st overall. John Olsen followed closely behind, competing as an individual in a tie for 32nd.
 
Jon Vinge closed out the IUP lineup in a tie for 44th, notching a 79 on Tuesday.
