INDIANA, Pa. – IUP standout
Dan Gibney was named to the 2023-24 Academic All-America® track & field and cross country third team, selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday.
Gibney is one of six student-athletes from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) to earn the prestigious honor, awarded to those who excel academically and in competition. The Stewartstown, Pa. native boasts a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average in safety, health & environmental applied science.
Gibney is a two-time All-PSAC honoree in cross country (2022 and 2023), also earning all-conference laurels for his runner-up outdoor finish in the 3,000m steeplechase in consecutive seasons (2023, 2024). Gibney picked up USTFCCA All-Region honors during the 2024 outdoor track season in the 3000S and 10,000m.
Dylan Targgart (Division I; South Carolina), Hunter Potrykus (Division II; Colorado School of Mines), James Settles (Division III; Colorado College) and Carson Johnson (NAIA; University of Cumberlands) have each been named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for their respective divisions.
