IUP volleyball selected for NCAA Regional Tournament

INDIANA, Pa. — After a disappointing finish in the PSAC Tournament, the IUP volleyball team will return to the court this week for the NCAA Atlantic Regional. The Crimson Hawks earned the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Fairmont State in the opening round.

The regional will be hosted by top-seeded Gannon in Erie. Five PSAC programs are included in the eight-team field, including three from the PSAC West: Pitt-Johnstown, Gannon and IUP.

The IUP–Fairmont State winner will advance to play either No. 2 East Stroudsburg or No. 7 Charleston. IUP faced both earlier this season, splitting two matches with East Stroudsburg and defeating Charleston in its lone meeting.

Fairmont State enters the tournament at 23-10 overall and 10-4 in the Mountain East Conference. The Falcons were eliminated in the MEC quarterfinals by West Virginia State, the No. 3 seed.

Four Falcons earned All-MEC recognition, including libero of the year Josie Skinn and MEC Player of the Year Joey Borelle.

The regional runs Thursday, Dec. 4, through Saturday, Dec. 6.
