INDIANAPOLIS – The IUP women's volleyball team appeared in the first set of Division II regional rankings released Thursday. Like other NCAA sports, the initial rankings are listed alphabetically rather than numerically.
IUP is one of seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams in the top 10, holding a 16-5 overall record and 16-6 mark in the region. The other PSAC schools included are East Stroudsburg, Gannon, Pitt-Johnstown, Seton Hill, Shepherd and Shippensburg.
The Crimson Hawks have been scrappy all season, forcing opponents into mistakes. IUP's opponents are hitting just .139, the lowest mark in the PSAC. The team's 11.79 assists per set rank third in the conference, and its 12.87 kills per set rank second behind Gannon.
