IUP softball with seven All-Conference selections

LOCK HAVEN. Pa. – The IUP softball program had seven total All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) selections, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

For the first time in 20 years, IUP had seven players earn All-PSAC West honors.

Junior catcher Reagan Rand earned her first All-PSAC West First Team selection. Rand started all 42 games this season, recorded 178 putouts and 14 assists defensively. At the plate, she collected 40 hits, including 13 doubles, two triples, and five home runs. She scored 29 runs, drove in 42, and stole seven bases.

Junior shortstop Madison Pikula received First Team honors for the second straight year. She recorded 71 putouts and had 72 assists this season. Over the past two seasons, she has started all 92 games. She ranks first in program history in career batting average (.405), fifth in runs scored (125), 13th in hits (157), and sixth in stolen bases (42). This season, she batted .382 with 55 hits, 40 runs scored, and 26 RBIs. Pikula ranks third in the conference in triples (6) and 10th in runs scored (42).

Junior third baseman Delaney Patella earned her third consecutive All-PSAC West First Team selection. This season, Patella recorded 33 hits, 33 runs, 34 RBIs, and five home runs. She ranks sixth in program history in home runs (23), tied for seventh in runs scored (116), and holds the program record for career walks (110). She drew 30 walks this season, ranking third in the conference and leads the PSAC with a .524 on-base percentage. Patella was named PSAC West Athlete of the Week on April 14 after going 9-for-15 with six runs, five doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBIs.

Junior outfielder Maddie Griffin also earned her first First Team selection, marking a strong showing in her second season after transferring in 2023. Griffin has started all but one game since arriving at IUP and ranks fourth in single-season batting average in program history and fifth in the PSAC (.413). She is tied for fifth in single-season runs scored (42), also ranking sixth in the conference. Griffin totaled 59 hits, five doubles, three triples, and 18 RBIs, while making 63 putouts in the outfield. She was named PSAC West Athlete of the Week on March 24 after collecting three doubles, three triples, and nine RBIs over six games. She also stole six bases on seven attempts.

Senior infielder Jordan Sylvia, senior outfielder Paige Truax, and sophomore pitcher Kendall Young were each named to the Second Team, with all three having earned previous All-PSAC West Second Team honors in 2024.

Sylvia has started 172 of her 173 career games and totaled 536 putouts and 191 assists defensively. This season, Sylvia drove in 47 runs, placing her fourth in the PSAC, and hit two grand slams, both against Slippery Rock. She has totaled 167 career hits that ranks her seventh in program history and ranks second in career RBIs with 155. She has totaled 102 runs scored, 36 doubles, and 18 home runs.

Truax, another four-year starter, is tied for third in career runs scored (127), third in stolen bases (51), and seventh in hits (183). This season, she scored 34 runs, had 37 hits, and stole seven bases. Truax has started 170 of 174 games, drawn 63 walks, and posts a career batting average of .353.

This season, Young has posted 96 strikeouts, 14 wins, and a 3.14 ERA. Young was named the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week on March 4 after she recorded a shutout, tallied seven strikeouts, and surrendered just four hits across two games. She just surpassed 200 career strikeout and currently sits in eighth with 202.
