INDIANA, Pa. – IUP men's golf paces the field after 18 holes at the 2026 Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational, held at the par-71 Indiana Country Club on Tuesday.
IUP combined for a 293 on Tuesday, three shots ahead of West Chester (296) and Pitt-Johnstown (296) in the team standings of the 61st Annual Spadafora IUP Invitational. Five teams are within seven strokes of IUP with 18 holes of golf remaining.
Guillermo Salazar is one shot from the lead with an even-par 71 on Tuesday. Tied for second in the individual standings after 18 holes, Salazar carded his 32nd career round or par of better.
Salazar had three birdies on the front nine and enters Wednesday's final round one shot shy of 18-hole leader Eli Ropietski (Pitt-Johnstown).
Ben De Castro (T8th) had two birdies and seven pars over his final nine holes, settling in for a two-over round of 73. De Castro played the par four holes at a one-under clip for his round.
Alex Swinnerton was not far behind with a round of 75, entering Wednesday tied for 14th overall. Swinnerton also found consistency as his round progressed, going bogey-free over his final 12 holes with an even-par back nine.
Trevor Todd closed his round on a high note with a birdie on his final hole, finishing with a 75 and tied for 20th.
Cameron GeRue (individual),
John Olsen and
Jon Vinge (individual) finished with identical rounds of 76.
Vinge had one of just six eagles in the opening round on the par-five fifth hole.
Zaiden Dennis (individual) posted a 79 on Tuesday.
IUP led the field in scoring average on par threes (3.24) and finished with 53 pars across the scoring lineup.
