Kessler, Pikula Lead IUP Sweep of Final PSAC Weekly Honors

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — IUP swept the final PSAC Athlete of the Week honors for the spring season, as redshirt junior David Kessler and senior Madison Pikula were recognized for their performances.

Kessler earned his first career PSAC Athlete of the Week award after batting .333 with six hits over five games, all starts at shortstop. He recorded two extra-base hits, drove in five runs and scored five times.

Pikula claimed her third PSAC West Athlete of the Week honor of the season. She hit .563 with nine hits, including three doubles and a triple, while scoring four runs from the leadoff spot and driving in three.

Pikula also set the IUP career stolen base record during the week and now has 59 steals. She recorded multiple hits in every game, including a three-hit performance in the first game against Pitt-Johnstown.

The weekly honors mark the final awards of the regular season, with All-PSAC teams set to be announced later this week.
