Senior basketball player Brandon Norfleet has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week in an announcement made Monday for the week ending on Sunday, March 6.
Norfleet is an Athlete of the Week for the seventh time this season after scoring 32 points in Saturday’s PSAC semifinal loss to West Chester. It was the fifth time this season Norfleet went for more than 30 points in a game, as the guard is averaging a conference-best 22.8 points per game.
Down by one point late in the overtime, Norfleet hit a 20-foot jumper with 5.2 seconds left to give IUP a one-point lead. However, West Chester would make a buzzer-beater to send the Crimson Hawks home from the playoffs.
An All-American candidate and already the PSAC West Player of the Year, Norfleet entered the semifinal matchup as one of only 11 players in the country this season to score more than 600 points, hand out 100 assists and grab at least 100 rebounds. Norfleet is the single-season points scored leader in program history.
