INDIANA, Pa. – Freshman lacrosse player Ally Burrows has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week in an announcement made Monday for the week ending on Sunday, March 27.
Burrows continued her strong freshman campaign by scoring seven goals and adding an assist in the lacrosse team’s 17-5 win over Shippensburg Saturday. The seven goals are tied for a single-game record and are the most goals scored by a freshman in IUP history.
IUP, now 5-3 overall and a perfect 3-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play, got on the scoreboard quickly Saturday with Burrows burying a shot just 29 seconds into the game to give IUP a 1-0 lead. She scored five of IUP’s 9 first-half goals as the Crimson Hawks went into halftime up, 9-2.
Burrows, who also added two ground balls and caused a turnover Satuday, leads IUP in goals with 25, which also makes her the No. 8 goal-scorer in the conference.
