Sophomore Austin Cooper has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, May 15.
Cooper was one of two Crimson Hawks to win an individual event as the Crimson Hawks competed at the PSAC Outdoor Championships this past weekend, winning the 1500 meter title.
Cooper’s 1500 title this weekend marked his second straight in the event, as he also won it as a freshman at the 2015 PSAC Outdoor Championships. This year, Cooper finished with a time of 3:56.53, edging the second place runner by just under a second.
The sophomore also finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.77, and ran a leg on the 4x800 relay team that finished fourth.
