Freshman goalie Madeline Smakulski has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, October 9.
Smakulski continued her run of fantastic goalie play, posting her fifth consecutive shutout in a 6-0 road win over Mansfield on Saturday. The true freshman saved three shots, increasing her streak to 17 straight saved shots, dating back to September 4 against Davis & Elkins.

Smakulski also decreased her conference-leading goals against average to .327, which is also top 15 in Division II. Her five shutouts this year are tied for the seventh most in single season program history, as she’s now four behind Latoya Wallace’s IUP record nine set in 2001.
