For the second straight week, track & field athletes
Derek Noll and
Nickeela Austin were named the IUP Athletes of the Week, announced by the sports information office Monday afternoon.
These are the third IUP weekly honors of the season for both Noll and Austin.
Noll won the men's 800 meter title at this weekend's 2019 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships with a time of 1:52.26. The top seed coming into the race, he edged Cal U's Kyle Tumpak by .37 of a second with his NCAA provisional time.
It was Noll's first ever outdoor individual title, improving on his seventh place finish a season ago.
Noll also ran on two relays at the PSAC Championships, including the anchor leg of the second place 4x800 relay and the second leg on the fourth place 4x400 relay.
Austin was another event winner over the weekend, taking home top billing in the women's triple jump with a new personal best of 12.07 meters. That was also an NCAA provisional mark.
The transfer has now won two conference titles in her first season in the crimson and gray, also taking home the indoor long jump championship in February.
The junior competed in four events over the weekend, finishing fourth in the long jump, eighth in the 200 meters, and ran the anchor leg on IUP's seventh place 4x100 relay team.
