Boxscore

Darryl Webb (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) scored a career-high 32 points and IUP overcame a one-point halftime deficit in an 80-65 victory over Seton Hill.

The Crimson Hawks improved to 3-1 and dropped the Griffins to 1-2. IUP has won all three games in the series including the past two years in Greensburg.

Webb hit 12 of 17 from the field and 7 of 9 from the free throw line to eclipse his previous career best of 27 points accomplished twice, including last March's Atlantic Regional championship game.

He recorded the first 30-point game by an IUP player since Gerald Brooks scored 32 vs. Slippery
Rock in the opening round of the 2009 playoffs. Webb increased his career total of 1,479 points to move within 236 of Robert Misenko's school record.

Julian Sanders (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) added 17 points and Ashton Smith (Scarborough, ON/West Hill Collegiate) scored 15 to give the Crimson Hawks three players in double figures. Smith also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and Webb had seven to help IUP hold a 43-35 advantage on the boards. IUP also helped its cause by committing only eight turnovers.

The IUP defense limited Kellen Holmes to 15 points and Chris Giles to seven after the duo came into the game averaging a combined 46.0 points per game. Oliver Lewinson had 14 points and 15 rebounds and Matt Miller had 11 for the Griffins.

Danny Ayebo and Marcel Souberbielle (Montevideo, Uruguay/Uruguayan American School) played a key role off the IUP bench, with Ayebo posting career highs of six points and four rebounds to offset the early foul trouble for Willi Estrella (Santiago, Dominican Republic/Escuela sto Hermano Miguel) and Souberbielle contributing six rebounds and a pair of steals.

The Crimson Hawks led by as many as seven in the first half, the last time at 32-25 on two free throws by Ayebo with 7:18 left. Seton Hill outscored IUP 12-4 the rest of the way and took a 37-36 lead into intermission on a layup by Lewinson.

IUP took the lead for good just 13 seconds in the second half on a jumper by Webb, a bucket that triggered a 15-4 run that put the Crimson Hawks in front 51-41 at the 14:04 mark.

It was a 57-48 game after a free throw by Lewinson with 9:51 remaining, but Webb and Julian Sanders (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) hit 3-pointers to highlight an 11-2 surge that put the game out of reach at 68-50 with just under six minutes to go. The Griffins got no closer than 13 the rest of the way.

Sanders hit three 3-pointers in the game and has 172 in his career, fifth on the all-time IUP list and nine shy of Eddie Peterson for fourth.

The Crimson Hawks are off until a Dec. 7 trip to West Virginia Wesleyan. IUP is back home for the Indiana Regional Medical Center Classic Dec. 11-12 at Memorial Field House.
