Becca Vogt Leads the Offense but Crimson Hawks Fall at East Stroudsburg

Becca Vogt (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) netted five goals and picked up an assist but it wasn't enough as the Crimson Hawks suffered a 15-13 defeat at East Stroudsburg in PSAC action Saturday.

With the game tied at 3 with just over 10 minutes to play in the first half, the Crimson Hawks (3-3, 2-2 PSAC) got goals from Bethany Glasshagel, Vogt and Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) in a span of just three minutes.

East Stroudsburg (4-4, 2-2) rallied to within 7-6 at halftime and then built a 13-9 lead with 10:56 to play after Ali Green found the net for the Warriors, the last of four straight goals for East Stroudsburg.

IUP was able to get as close as 14-13 when Vogt scored with just 34 seconds left in the game, but East Stroudsburg scored with two seconds left to ice the game.

In addition to Vogt, three Crimson Hawks scored multiple goals. Glasshagel, Lodovici and Colleen Berlin (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) each tallied a pair of goals. Stephanie Bianco (King of Prussia/Upper Merion) and Jessica Beck (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech) also scored for IUP.

Kaitlin Sterling (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) took the loss for IUP in net, making 19 saves including 15 in the first half.

The Crimson Hawks continue conference play on the road when they travel to Edinboro Tuesday afternoon.
