The IUP lacrosse team reached the 10 win mark for the first time in program history as they defeated Kutztown 17-10 Friday afternoon at Miller Stadium in the 3rd annual Shannon Quail Memorial Game.
The Crimson Hawks wasted no time getting a goal from
Beth Glasshagel (Coram, NY/Newfield) just :30 into the game. That helped to propel IUP to a 5-0 lead early in the first half.
Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) led the charge for IUP scoring four goals and added three assists.
Becca Vogt (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) chipped in two goals and two assists.
Beth Glasshagel (Coram, NY/Newfield) and
Alex Edwards (Bethlehem/Nazareth) each scored two goals.
Corinne Miller (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) also scored multiple points with one goal and two assists.
Jessica Beck (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech) tallied a goal and an assist.
Kaitlin Sterling (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) picked up the win in net only needing to make one save in 32 minutes. Katherine Davis made five saves nine minutes and Chelsea Hipp made two saves in just over 16 minutes.
Taylor Norwood (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) keyed the IUP defense controlling three ground balls and two draws.
The Crimson Hawks celebrate senior day Saturday at Miller Stadium when they host West Chester in PSAC action.
