Sarah Ward (Murrysville/Franklin Regional ) scored a pair of goals for the Crimson Hawks but No. 4 Lock Haven was too much as IUP dropped a 16-4 decision to the Lady Eagles Thursday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field.
Colleen Berlin (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) got the Crimson Hawks off to a fast start, scoring the first goal of the game at 23:53, but Lock Haven answered with the next five goals to take control of the game and never looked back.
Becca Vogt (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) added a goal for the Crimson Hawks in the second half to round out the scoring for IUP. Vogt also had an assist and owns the school single season record with 45, breaking her own mark from a year ago. Her 83 points this season broke Jackie Rutkowski's record of 79 from 2007.
Kaitlin Sterling (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) took the loss in net for IUP making five saves in the first half and four in the second half while allowing 10 goals.
The Crimson Hawks finish out PSAC play Saturday with a game against Mercyhurst. A win against the Lakers would give the IUP its first playoff appearance in school history.
